About MeI grew up in Chicago, the oldest of five siblings in a typically dysfunctional American family. We lived in a two-story brownstone in the bowels of the city with our extended family--grandparents and great grandparents. It was a pretty rough neighborhood in those days, and I spent much of my boyhood dodging Latin King and Gangster Disciple gang members who wanted to beat my ass just because I was a white boy in a predominantly Hispanic neighborhood...
My father was from the South, a profoundly illiterate man with a 4th grade education. His idea of proper parenting was to physically beat me and my siblings whenever we did not behave according to his rigid expectations. My mother became increasingly more depressed and suicidal as the marriage progressed, and the marriage eventually ended in divorce soon after my father moved the family back to Alabama. Fortunately I chose to remain in Chicago. |
My Education |
In elementary school I always got good grades, so good I was "double promoted" by the school administrators. I spent a few months in 5th grade before being unexpectedly moved to the 6th grade to finish out the school year. I went on to attend a somewhat prestigious high school, and graduated at the age of 16-- a far cry from my illiterate, abusive father.
I was amazed when I first encountered the university campus milieu. Wow! All this was going on and I didn't know about it? I absolutely loved learning new things, walking from one campus building to another to attend classes. I spent six years at the University of Illinois at Chicago, not because I had to, but rather because I didn't want to leave and go out and get a job in the "real world". I earned a Bachelor of Arts degree with a double major in Psychology and Philosophy. |
My Purpose |
I have always had an inquisitive mind and an intense curiosity about the ultimate nature of our reality. The purpose of this blog is explore this curiosity, and to share my thoughts and observations on the current state of our society and of planet Earth. Herein I attempt to gain some understanding and insight into who and what we are as a species, and where we and our world might be headed. Fascist, dystopian, New World Order Technocracy, or planetary liberation, Ascension and a renaissance of the Spirit and true human freedom? I suppose it still remains to be seen...
